I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I received my B.A. degree in Graphic Design at San Diego State University in 1993. While at SDSU, I also studied fine arts.

While I working various design jobs, I took classes at the Watts Atelier. After college, my interest in drawing and illustration remained strong. By enrolling at the Watts Atelier, not only did my drawing skills improve, I became more knowledgeable in creating design solutions for my client's communication problems.

In 1996 I joined Wildstorm Productions. I wanted to work with more art-oriented media, plus the interest in the comic book industry was really strong at that time. I started in the production department by working the second shift from 4pm to 1am, Wednesday through Sunday. I became experienced in film output, and printing

In 1998, I was promoted to editorial designer at Wildstorm. I designed covers, graphic novels and posters. I simultaneously concentrated on my design skills and I took art classes. In 2000, I became an Associate Producer with the creative services department. I worked on the new Wildstorm website and many special projects for both Wildstorm and DC Comics. Working on multimedia projects was a really exciting change from print. There wasn't the limitation of CMYK, and it was a great experience to work with coding and coordinating large projects.

Today, I am Art Director and have returned to designing the things I really like: covers, graphic novels, posters and ads. I continue to work on marketing projects with Wildstorm and DC Comics.

I am married to Ruth Castillo-Roeder, who I met while working at Wildstorm. We are the proud parents of three children. Spencer, Alexander and Ruby.
